Scope:
This standard specifies requirements for the cleaning of lights, beds, washbasins, fittings, other sanitary appliances, handles, tables, walking frames and technical installations near the patient as well as other technical installations. Wiping up and disinfecting after waste and contamination of human discharge (e.g. blood, juice and excreta) is dealt with in annex B. This standard does not cover the cleaning of surgical instruments and toys. This standard does not cover the central kitchen and the central laundry. Topics such as work environment and waste disposal are covered by existing legislation and are not covered by this standard.
