Scope:

This standard supplements DS/EN 1176 and it specifies safety requirements and test methods for natural playground equipment with a view to ensuring that the equipment is safe for the children that use it. The standard applies to natural playground equipment intended for collective use and to art objects mounted for playing purposes. The standard also covers huts intended for an open fire and similar playhouses (e.g. workshops for play activities). Unless otherwise specified, the requirements are applicable to all types of natural playground equipment. This standard also contains an informative annex which deals with playground elements such as plants, stones, earth and water. This standard should be read in conjunction with DS/EN 1176.
