Scope:
This Standard describes a method for linking PID numbers in certificates to civil registration numbers for use in web applications, for which this is required. It is recognised that the civil registration number should not be used as the unique identification of individuals in certificates. A common format for a unique idenfication number within the individual certification centres (CA) has therefore been established. The identification number is a kind of customer number.
